On October 23 (Sun), at the Chofu Garden, a hands-on learning event for elementary school students and parents living in the city, "Shimonoseki Whale School Terakoya Edition", sponsored by Chofu Garden, Cable Net Shimonoseki Co., Ltd. (J: COM Shimonoseki)・ Co-hosted by Shimonoseki City University and supported by Shimonoseki City Board of Education.
In October 2021, the Whale Materials Exhibition Room, which displays whale materials owned by the university, opened at the Chofu Garden Ninokura, where maple colors began to be colored, was held twice in the morning and afternoon.
At the event, we first learned about the ecology of whales and the relationship between Shimonoseki and whales through a quiz on whales by Dr. KISHIMOTO Mitsuhiro. After that, the participants were divided into two groups, toured the materials of the whale materials exhibition room with commentary by Dr. Kishimoto, and experienced a tea ceremony to enjoy matcha and sweets.
Elementary school students actively raised their hands to answer quizzes, and parents were surprised at how to use whales unexpectedly, and the participants enjoyed learning about whales. It seemed to be.
