Liberal arts
In order to survive in a complex modern society, it is necessary not only to acquire specialized knowledge, but also to integrate different ideas and fragmentary information to make rational decisions. The purpose of liberal arts is to develop human resources with creative thinking, judgment, and application skills based on a wealth of culture, by freely learning various academic fields. From the five subjects of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, life and health sciences, human rights and symbiosis, we aim to acquire advanced and diverse culture by selecting a wide range of subjects according to our interests.
Shimo-Kwansei Gakuin
Shimo-Kwansei Gakuin is a liberal arts education course for the purpose of education and research rooted in the community. It consists of three parts: sightseeing in Shimonoseki, Shimonoseki's industry and Mirai, and PBL (problem-solving learning), and students who spend four years in Shimonoseki have the history and culture, nature and environment that Shimonoseki is proud of. In addition to industry, it is a content that allows you to understand various issues facing as a local city, such as a declining birthrate and aging population. Furthermore, while introducing the various measures we are currently working on, we are conducting classes that go beyond the boundaries of liberal arts subjects to consider solutions for the future together with students.
Career education
Students can take Career Design from the first year in order to improve their qualities and develop the skills necessary for social and professional independence after graduation. Through "work experience training" for first and second graders conducted in Japan and overseas, and "internships" for third graders, we also provide opportunities for students to demonstrate their expertise and abilities that cannot be confirmed on the desk alone while interacting with various people inside and outside the university. Through these career education, we are working to develop human resources who can be useful in society by cultivating employment skills from a broad perspective and a bird's-eye view of society.
Subject pickup
Problem-solving Learning PBL
PBL is a subject in which students work on issues and issues received from companies and governments while receiving guidance from members of society.
Through PBL, students can learn the importance of building teamwork and improve their communication skills.
In December, companies and governments will be invited to hold a briefing session, and students will make presentations. We will summarize the activity report at the end of January based on the contents of the interim report meeting.
In line with the progress of globalization in society and industry, we are also implementing it overseas.
