Student voluntary circle "Japan Heritage Exploration Q Meeting" conducted fieldwork on Rokuren Island

On June 16, 2019 (Sunday), five students from the Japan Heritage Exploration Q Committee conducted a fieldwork survey on Rokuren Island, following last year, with three second-year students from TUFS who were newly interested in this Rokuren Island Fieldwork and staff from the Shimonoseki City Board of Education Cultural Property Protection Division. On Rokurenjima in Shimonoseki City, there is Rokurenjima Lighthouse, one of the cultural properties of Japan Heritage that has been jointly certified by Kitakyushu City and Shimonoseki City. I visited the island and took great care of the residents' association. We will continue to interact with each other again this year.

In the first half, three City University students who visited the island for the first time spent about three hours introducing Rokuren Island. We had lunch at the rest area on the island, rented a public hall in the second half, and introduced the club activities to the three people who participated for the first time this time.

I've visited many times, and while being healed by the scenery of the island that has not changed before, I found new challenges on how to promote the island in the future. In particular, farmers who grow gerberas requested that "I want more people to know more island flowers as a special product!" I would like to talk in the circle so that I can propose revitalization.

When I returned home, I received a lot of gerberas and eustoma cut flowers grown on the island as souvenirs. It was very beautiful. For details of the activities of the circle, including this fieldwork, so far, refer to the website of the Japan Heritage Exploration Q Society (https://shidai-nikkyu.amebaownd.com/) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/shidai_nikkyu/).
