#Health CommitteePrevention of infection with norovirus
Every year, food poisoning due to norovirus occurs frequently, mainly in winter. Norovirus can spread food-to-human transmission and human-to-food transmission, leading to mass food poisoning. In order to prevent food poisoning due to norovirus, let's perform "heating, hand washing, disinfection" well.
1.What is norovirus?
- It is a small spherical virus that grows only in the body.
- It is highly infectious and can be infected with a small amount of about 10 to 100 viruses.
- It develops within 1-3 days after infection.
- It is 85°C, killed by heating for at least 1 minute.
2.Symptoms and route of transmission
- The main symptoms are vomiting and diarrhea, and other symptoms vary from person to person, such as mild fever and abdominal pain.
Usually, it recovers in about a few days, but after recovery, the virus may be shed for about a week. - Most of the routes of transmission are oral infection, and droplet infection occurs when foods contaminated with the virus are eaten raw or not sufficiently cooked, or where there are many opportunities to contact each other, such as homes and communal living facilities. May be.
3.Prevention methods
- The basics of prevention are hand washing.
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap when returning home or cooking (especially after touching raw meat and seafood), or before meals. - Choose fresh ingredients (especially seafood such as bivalve) and cook thoroughly before eating.
※The temperature in the center is 85°C, and heating for at least 1 minute is a guide.
