Education and Research Purpose

The aim is to foster highly skilled professionals who can make accurate decisions on various economic issues by understanding modern economic, organizational and social mechanisms and considering them in relation to their own duties and positions.

A.
Students have the ability to understand the typical approach of economics and consider the economy and society from a broad perspective.
B.
Students acquire the ability to logically consider various economic phenomena while utilizing quantitative and statistical data and models.
C.
Students acquire the ability to consider the actions and relationships of economic entities, such as companies that cross border borders and finance, while also being aware of the relationship with the Japanese economy.
D.
Students acquire the ability to understand the intentions of various policies and institutions related to the economy, society, and region along with their historical background, and to consider their strengths and weaknesses.

A.
Students understand specialized knowledge and skills related to organizational management and commerce, and acquire the ability to play an active role in the organization in cooperation with various professional fields.
B.
Students have an understanding of the economy and culture of other countries, including East Asia, and have the ability to think about business and corporate activities from a global perspective.
C.
Students understand the importance of interrelationship between the external environment and the organization, such as competitive relationships, customer needs, and social justice, and acquire the ability to take a bird's-eye view of the activities of the organization in relation to the development of society.

Students acquire the ability to contribute to the improvement of organizational management by analyzing the flow of funds related to the organization and the results of management activities in numerical and data, and appropriately presenting the results to stakeholders.

Basic Policy for Curriculum Development

Each department systematically organizes and implements the curriculum based on the following policies so that students can achieve the goals set forth in their graduation certification and degree conferring policies.

Students will deepen their ability to logically consider economic phenomena through major application "Theory and Analysis Methods".

Through its application "International and East Asia", students will deepen their ability to consider actions and relationships of economic entities across borders.

Students will deepen their ability to consider policies and systems related to economic, social and regional areas through their application "systems and policies" and "regions".

A.
Understand various specialized knowledge and skills related to organizational management and commercial transactions through the basic and major applications of majors.

Students will deepen their understanding of the economy and culture of East Asia and other countries through their major application "International and East Asia".

Students will deepen their ability to consider the comprehensive relationship between the organization and the external environment through major application "distribution and marketing".

Policy for evaluating learning outcomes in Faculty of Economics

Osamu Osamu's achievements will be evaluated in accordance with the class plan (syllabus). At the end of the second year, students will evaluate the degree of achievement of Osamu and decide whether or not to take specialized exercise I. At the end of the fourth year, comprehensively evaluate the degree of achievement of the entire Diploma Policy through the degree of achievement of Osamu.

Admission Policy Admission Policy

Faculty of Economics

Shimonoseki City University Faculty of Economics is looking for the following students:

  1. Students who aim to play an active role in a company based on their knowledge of economy and management
  2. Students who aim to play an active role in public places such as the government and NPOs based on their knowledge of administrative and financial matters.
  3. Students who aim to play an active role in the international community based on their advanced foreign language skills.
  4. Students who aim to play an active role in the ICT industry and data analysis field based on knowledge in the fields of information and mathematics.
  5. Students who aim to play an active role as educators and researchers based on their deep knowledge of society and human beings.

The contents that are expected to be acquired before enrollment are as follows.

  1. Basic knowledge and skills required to study economics include knowledge of Japanese language, geography and history, citizens, mathematics, science, and foreign languages learned at high schools, etc.
  2. The ability to discover and solve problems that are interested in daily social and economic issues and think about solutions by themselves as abilities such as thinking, judgment, and expressiveness, and communication skills cultivated through group learning and extracurricular activities at high schools.
  3. As independence, diversity, and collaboration, the attitude of learning with a sense of purpose, the ability to understand different cultures and values, and the public spirit obtained through activities in local communities.

Each department of Faculty of Economics seeks the following students:

(1) Department of Economics

Department of Economics seeks students who are interested in various issues in the local community and international community and have knowledge and skills that form the basis of theory, history, and policies related to economic and social issues, as well as logical reading, thinking, and quantitative analysis skills.

(2) Department of International Commerce

Department of International Commerce seeks students who are interested in modern global business and corporate management, are motivated to actively take on international exchange, and have basic language skills and information processing skills.

(3) Department of Public Management

Department of Public Management seeks students who are motivated to actively work in the community, are interested in the various public issues facing the community and society, and have logical thinking skills to learn them academically.
