The purpose of the lecture
What kind of book do you think of when you hear the word classical? Classics are not just literary works. There are books called classics in various academic fields such as economics and business administration that you are trying to study. They have played a major role in shaping the current academic field, such as those that have laid the foundation for new academic disciplines and those that have made major changes.
What is the meaning of reading classical music now? You can't understand the answer unless you actually read the classics.
In this lecture, we will focus on the classics of social sciences. The instructor talks about classics from each point of view, but that's just an opportunity to get everyone to pick up the classics. Through this lecture, I would like you to think about how academics have started and changed, and what academics are.

Term Spring |
Intensive lectures | 2 units |
Person in charge (coordinator): KAKU Kazunori (Associate Professor, Shimonoseki City University)
The purpose of the lecture
In this lecture, the results of the Kanmon Regional Joint Research Project, a joint research between Kitakyusyu City University and TUFS, will be disclosed to students and citizens.
In this fiscal year, we will focus on two themes in a row.
Part 1 will give a lecture on the current status of social capital in the Kanmon area based on the research conducted in 2006. What kind of social capital is accumulated in the Kanmon area and how is it functioning? In addition to clarifying what kind of social capital the residents of the Kanmon area have in a questionnaire survey of residents, we will also consider the connection between Kitakyushu City and Shimonoseki City.
Part 2 looks at the barrier area after the decentralization reform in the future based on the research conducted in 2007. At present, decentralization reforms and provincial debates are being promoted nationwide, but these functions have a direct impact on local governments in the Kanmon area, as well as residents and the business community. In the age of decentralization, it is necessary for the region to independently examine its own future and send it to the national government, etc., instead of "waiting a decision in the center and considering a response." From these facts, we will provide a basic perspective to look at the Kanmon area after the decentralization reform in the future, including the so-called “Kanmon Special City”.
