Article 22-6 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Educational Staff License Act
1.Matters related to the training goals of teachers and plans to achieve those goals.
Our philosophy is "creating new knowledge based on the integration of education and research," "education and research with a broad focus on the world, mainly in East Asia," and "education and research rooted in the community as an intellectual center for local communities." Based on this philosophy, OIST's education and research aims to "cultivate well-balanced, well-educated and highly educated professionals" and "contribute to the development of local and international communities." In accordance with these guidelines, the goal of teacher training at OIST is to be a faculty member with a rich culture and advanced expertise, and to encourage such faculty members to create a rich community.
By proficiency in the theory, policies, and history of the international and national economies, regional and local economies, Department of Economics aims to develop faculty members who are based on being a creative business person who can deepen their understanding of the modern economy and society and respond appropriately to various problems of the modern economy.
Department of Public Management aims to train teachers who are proficient in the theory and practice of management (effective management) and who are active in public activities such as government, corporations, NPO activities, and community development.
In special majors, as a teacher training course for in-service teachers or those who obtain (expected) a teacher's license, we aim to train specialists in special support education who can demonstrate problem-solving skills to the diverse situations and educational needs of children at local educational sites centered on special needs schools.
