On June 23rd (Thursday), an open lecture "New Development of German Biomedical Ethics-What are the Ethics Issues of PGD Genome Editing?" was held online.
Professor Takahiro Kirihara of Faculty of Economics University gave a presentation on the recent situation of biomedical ethics in Germany based on materials. There were many laws and phrases such as the "human dignity" clause and the embryo protection law, as well as specialized laws and phrases such as genome editing and reproductive medicine, but there were careful explanations and explanations one by one. He also gave examples of discussions on the status of medical ethics in Japan in an easy-to-understand manner.
The lecture was held online using Zoom. The students listened enthusiastically while watching the materials distributed in advance and the charts shown in the lecture. In addition, each student expressed their opinions and impressions, exchanged opinions with the instructor, and it was a very fruitful course.
