Sato (Yu) Seminar conducted a regional survey (Ube City)

On November 27 (Wednesday), 16 third-year students from Sato (Yu) Seminar conducted a regional survey in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. . Sixteen people were divided into four groups and worked on four themes: commerce (shopping street), tourism (industrial tourism), the sixth industrialization (Ube Genki brand), and immigration and settlement.

First of all, at the Ube City Office, we interviewed the person in charge about each theme. There were some unfamiliar parts in the first survey, but I think we were able to achieve the results of studying little by little. Also, after the interview, there was a group who actually went to see the site with the person in charge.
After that, we moved to Tokiwa Park and had lunch, and toured the Ube City Coal Memorial Hall in the park. Many students did not know that there was a coal field in Ube, and listened interestingly to the explanation of curator Kimiki Hirohata. We also looked at Ube's urban area and the Seto Inland Sea from observation deck, which was created by relocating a pit tower that was active until the mountain was closed at the first coal mine in Higashimi.

Finally, we visited Ube Industry Co-creation Innovation Center (UBE START UP) and asked about the outline of the business. Since the students are in the second half of their third year and are aware of job hunting, they seemed to feel that starting a business is also one of their careers. He also seemed to be inspired by the fact that there were other university students studying thinking about starting a business.

Many students took on the interview survey for the first time this time, but at first they seemed nervous. However, it seemed interesting to hear and teach the local people, and to actually check with their own eyes, and I think there were many things to gain. In addition, he felt that there were many things he did not know even in the same Yamaguchi prefecture. I would like you to visit various regions to fill out what you don't know in about a year and a half remaining university life. And I think students will get a variety of jobs in the future, but I want them to go to the field, listen carefully to the stories of the parties concerned, and remember the importance and fun of thinking carefully.

Thank you to Ube City Hall for your cooperation, Mr. Hirohata of Ube City Coal Memorial Hall, and everyone at UBE START UP.
