Shimonoseki City University, which is strong in employment

Systemal career education and generous support.

Shimonoseki City University advocates "Shimonoseki City University, which is strong in employment," and as if supporting that word, we have achieved a high employment decision rate that exceeds the national average almost every year. Each of the diverse and generous support, such as systematic career education starting in the first year, and friendly support by career counselors and employment counselors, has led to student ideal job hunting. For example, graduates who decided to find a job asked about the career education program, "I made use of the words of the graduates of Career Design I (changed the subject name to career design A and B from 2023) in interviews." "The internship made my future vision has deepened my understanding of companies and the image of job hunting, and "Internship has made my future vision more clearer."

Strong reasons for employment

Rate of employment decision

The outlook for the future is uncertain due to the corona and the instability of the situation around the world, and the employment environment surrounding students is not optimistic.

However, the employment rate was high due to the fact that students were eager to find job hunting while utilizing our systematic career education and various employment support, and were supported by the high reputation of companies for our graduates of our university. I am maintaining Even in the event of COVID-19, about 150 companies and organizations participated in the campus joint industry study group held in mid-October.

The employment rate for graduates in 2022 was 98.8%. Financial institutions are the highest employment place, and the number of students who become public servants is increasing year by year. Our university students are not only employed in the Chugoku region, including Yamaguchi Prefecture, but also work in various areas such as Kanto and Kyushu, and graduates are active nationwide.

Work experience training and internship

Work experience that deepens understanding of working and identify one's abilities

During the summer vacation period, the university offers work experience training for the first year or more, and internships for the third year or more.

This is an educational program for students to experience work at companies and government offices for more than 5 days (40 hours) and use them in their own occupation selection.

In fiscal 2022, the COVID-19 infection took part in a program that was conducted online, but a total of 38 people from 28 companies and organizations participated in the training program.

Pre-learning will be conducted on campus before dispatching. Even after participating in the practical training, we look back on the preparation of reports and presentations at debriefing sessions, and have established a system to follow students' work experiences from various aspects.

Since fiscal 2008, students have been dispatched overseas, we are working to enhance both quality and quantity.

As an opportunity to look back on my future

I want to work related to overseas in the future, and to expand my English proficiency and my range of ideas, participate in online internships, explain the work contents of each company, talk about career of those who work overseas, and give advance assignments And so on.

When I made a presentation in a company's presentation that I would like to support SMEs' overseas expansion in the future, I was asked, "Which position do you want to work?" I realized that I didn't think about where I wanted to work specifically. Before participating, I thought it would be fine if I could do something I wanted to do, but to understand myself what I wanted to do, what I wanted to do, the future and characteristics of work, social changes, etc. I felt it was necessary to collect information such as. I want to make good use of this internship learning in my future occupation selection.
