The “Kitakyusyu / Shimonoseki District University Athletic Meet” is held by 17 members of the Kitakyusyu / Shimonoseki District University Athletic Association for the purpose of mutual friendship between universities through sports, and is held in charge of 17 sports at a time. Okayama University is in charge of the karate competition, and on June 25, 2017, a spring competition was held at Shimonoseki Budokan, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
On the day of the event, there were participants from six universities, and three boys from TUFS Karate Club participated. In addition, members other than the players also played a role in setting up the venue and proceeding, and all members managed the tournament as a whole.
