2016 Shimonoseki City University Open Lectures "Discussing the News" and "Japan's Social Security and Finance" were held on May 26 (Thursday).

　In the "Discussing the News" lecture, we had a discussion in English with Professor Paul Collette, a specially appointed faculty member of our university, and spent time pickling English that we could not usually taste. The "Discussing the News" course will be held six times by June 30.
　Professor Shintaro Nakagawa, associate professor of TUFS, talked about the great role of local communities in social security in Japan and the widening gap between local governments in long-term care insurance premiums and national health insurance premiums. Everyone listened enthusiastically, and there were questions about the consumption tax, which is a hot topic now, and it was a fulfilling course.

　
　In the 2016 Civic University Open Lecture (Spring Semester), there are still courses that can be applied for, so we look forward to the participation of many citizens.
