On Sunday, May 27, 2018 a total of 24 students and faculty members from Gifu University participated in a beach cleaning event held at Oura Beach in Nagato City. According to the organizer, a representative from Yamaguchi Prefecture, the total amount of garbage collected was 3.9 tons, and a large amount of plastic garbage such as plastic tanks was made. From the students who participated, "There was more garbage than I expected." And there were comments such as "The scaffolding was bad, seagrass and garbage were entangled, making it difficult to pick up." The students were able to interact with students from other universities in the prefecture and seemed to have a meaningful time.
